WHY SO MUCH EVIL? 2

Why so much evil?

WHY SO MUCH EVIL IN THE WORLD?

So many incurably ill people in hospitals, so many handicapped children, so many human lives completely denied ordinary happiness on this earth.  There is so much evil in the world. Why Evil?

How to continue to trust in a God who is supposed to be a merciful Father, when suffering, injustice, sickness, and death seem to dominate the larger history of the world as well as our smaller daily lives?

How could God have permitted so many wars, concentration camps, the Holocaust?

Why, then, hasn’t He eliminated-and does He persist in not eliminating-suffering in the world He created?

God created man as rational and free, thereby placing Himself under man’s judgment. His wisdom and omnipotence are placed, by free choice, at the service of creation.

There is also the intervention of the evil spirit, who, with even greater shrewdness than man.

WHY DOES GOD TOLERATE SUFFERING?

Evil exists because freedom exists. We are free to do what we want and some people choose to do evil for various reasons. It could all start with one person doing evil which affects other people and could lead to them also doing evil. If there is evil in the world then it is because of us humans.

A lot of simple things that God talked about like greed, jealousy, selfishness and whatever, could all lead to us doing evil deeds.

Children wouldn’t have to starve in Africa if we all chose to do good. We definitely have the money and resources to heal the world but the people who have the most money and power are greedy and instead of doing what is right and use the money for good, they use it for themselves. We think we know best all the time. If we had just been good and obeyed God we would not have this kind of trouble.

God taught us to be loving, be generous and all these positive things that show love and affection. If we all did these things then we wouldn’t have such big problems in the world because it would all be love.

Don’t blame God for the evil in the world. Look at yourself and make a change for the better. God gave us the freedom and responsibility, but because he knew what was best for us he also gave us advice on what we should do to live a better life, but sometimes we ignore the advice, thinking that we know better, and then we end up in a world full of evil and blame God when it is our own faults.

We brought these issues on ourselves.

god proof

God is Love and precisely for this He gave His Son, to reveal Himself completely as Love. This happened exactly as prophet Isaiah affirmed: “It was our infirmities that he bore, /We had all gone astray like sheep, / each following his own way; / But the Lord laid upon him / the guilt of us all”                                                                                 Isaiah 53:4-6.

It is the revelation not only that God is Love but also the One who “pours out love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit” Romans 5:5.

God proof

In our world today humanity is pushing God away. He is like a dim light. Humanity appears to be walking in darkness; it is losing its bearing.  There is a deep spiritual battle going on between the World of Light and the World of Darkness:  “For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 God does have an antidote: the Love of God. 1 John 4:7-21

In the end, the spiritual man will have the advantage over the man who sets himself up as an unbending judge of God’s actions. Continue reading WHY SO MUCH EVIL? 2

GIFT of MY PEACE 2

PEACE of GOD: A GIFT TO YOU

Our mind is split into two: one part stays in touch with love, the other wallows in fear. The way out of fear and anxiety is through opening the mind to love. Love casts out fear the way light casts out darkness. The peace of God is a Gift to you.

At the last moment when things look the worst, God usually appears only when we bother thinking of Him — not because of some sadistic sense of humor. We thought we were waiting for Him, but He was waiting for us to begin.

In God’s world, which is the real world, the more we give, the more we have. The people who have achieved more are only a half step ahead of you in time. Bless them and their gifts.  God’s plan has room for everyone. It’s not my career and my money anymore; it is our devotion and our work.

We don’t ask God for too much; we usually ask for too little. The help might not come in the form we expect but it will come. We recognize it by how we feel: an inner peace. Continue reading GIFT of MY PEACE 2

THE NORMAL DECENT LIFE 2

MAGIC OF ENTHUSIASM

What’s wrong with living a normal decent life and going to church on Sundays?  It is possible to live uninvolved with the work of God, with all our efforts directed toward our own prosperity and self-fulfillment.

We may even catch ourselves thinking that we will surely have no experiences of God like those of the saints.  Yet why did not those who knew Jesus and loved Him not recognize Him after the resurrection?  Could it be that only those with faith eyes, that were sharpened, knew Him?  In fact, when we do make some faith assessments of our lives, we marvel that God actually saved us in circumstances so ordinary.  Most of the time we miss it.Faith

Through faith and in joy we can begin to have our own religious experiences.  You will be amazed when you plod through each day with a little faith to assess events.  The sacred and the secular become one — even the everyday stupid details, arguments, or chats.  Most of the time we miss the significance of the daily because we are always waiting for dramatic situations to arise.  Continue reading THE NORMAL DECENT LIFE 2

IN GOD WHOM WE TRUST 2

HOPE AND TRUST

The Lord has fairly specific plans for us and it is possible to find out what they are. We have to believe IN GOD WHOM WE TRUST: God  is anxious to communicate with us and would do just that if only we would get serious about hearing from Him. The problem is that we are attached to doing our own will. We have to have a real desire to do what God wants. That is Hope and Trust.hope trust

Nothing else in the whole world is worth doing more than the will of God. Of course, if we want to know the Lord’s will, if we want the wisdom, we have got to ask. (James 1:4) We have to seek the Lord’s will while telling Him that we will do it whatever it is. Until we say that prayer of abandonment, the Lord will have difficulty getting through to us. Then the waiting becomes the toughest part of the equation. We have to become skilled in waiting for Him Psalm: 37:7

One form of discernment occurs with a group of people committed to each other. Through coincidences or unexpected happenings one member will think he or she has caught the Lord’s direction. The group will respond to an authentic word when they hear it from a member. There is a peace in their hearts that is hard to mistake. No major moves are made without receiving the Word.

One final word of caution: we have to know it is all right with God if we get it wrong. He can deal with our mistakes. His plan is very flexible. Honest mistakes are part of the learning process. So we shouldn’t take ourselves seriously. God knows we are often imperfect and fallible. We may discover the hard way that something that was not God led at all was a complete waste of time, energy and money.

All the wisdom on earth does not compare to divine wisdom, the gift of God, and insight into His will for all of us. That’s the wisdom that you want. If the Lord has a plan for you, it must be assumed first, that He is willing to convey this wisdom to you, and second, that there is a way that you can get hold of it. WITHOUT FAITH WE ARE WASTING TIME 2

Faith

FAITH — THE MAGIC OF BELIEVING:

We can fritter away a great deal of energy with small worries and miss so much of what God has planned for us. Are we still tinkering with what is trivial or foolish?  In fact, without faith, we are wasting our time.

Are we missing out on real new possibilities? Would we not be much happier if we moved deeply with God into relationships and community with others?
So why do people live out their lives in a way that suggests they are really waiting for their lives to be over in order to be with God for eternity?
Why do people live out their lives in such a way as to become the persons that they wish to be in five or ten years? We are not talking about mentors whose lives we admire. We are talking about now, when we should accept who and what we are in the present? Some refer to this as the Sacrament of the Present Moment.
It seems that we are content with shuffling along getting by with as little of life and experience as we possibly can. But if we live vigorously, the new life that becomes ours is none other than the life of God. God’s presence within life is very real and it is everywhere. One does not go outside life to find God.
St. Augustine wrote that wisdom is not what is to come in the future, nor what has been in the past, but what is. Maybe we have to recognize these religious experiences in the matter of everyday with a little more sensitivity.

Can we sharpen the focus of the eyes of faith – in the ordinary? Faith is trusting in the force that moves the universe — it isn’t blind, just visionary.

The universe knows what it is doing and it is on our side if we have faith. Our attempts to direct this force merely interfere with it. In fact, without faith we are wasting time.  Continue reading WITHOUT FAITH WE ARE WASTING TIME 2

STAGE OF LIFE 2

STAGE OF LIFE

At what stage are you?
STAGES OF DISCIPLESHIP

Your action to the Thunder of Justice may depend more on what is your stage of life: after the Curiosity Stage, the second stage we find it comfortable to hang around Jesus.  We are easily able to set this Jesus business aside.  We inherently know that there is something more but we don’t know how to explain it.  We hopefully will meet someone who will clarify this interior vision.

The third stage is an Awakening.  It is not enough to ponder the mystery of the kingdom of God.  We associate ourselves with those who are involved with healing the afflicted.  We decide to organize a similar activity into our lives.  We feel a certain surge of joy as we begin to get involved.

Finally we are invited from office, kitchen, classroom or assembly line to broaden our world view and with critical eye to examine our commitment of the mission of Jesus.  It is a call to broaden our horizons.  Instead of imitating Jesus, we wish to identify with Jesus. The follower has become leader.  We must do what Jesus did.

Our world is as big as our psyche wants it to be. The command to watch and pray has new dimensions.  We await the next set of directions which will point out the next step.  The power that proclaims the reign of God and power that heals the afflictions of the world is not ours but God’s.  For our part, we will be able to reach out to others who may not even love us in return.

An Informed Faith

Even the most casual reading of the bible tells us that the reign of God is both a present and a future reality. This era is becoming the age of disciples. The laity has come of age.

We really don’t lose our faith easily any way, but our faith can suffer from atrophy because of the lack of careful inquiry. Human issues can become very tangled if we don’t have a faith that seeks understanding and asks questions. We need to challenge society. We need to search anew the demands of Jesus in very radical ways. Continue reading STAGE OF LIFE 2

PAIN AND STRUGGLES 2

Shaking the Blues

SHAKE THE BLUES

With God we know that we can keep in touch with our own mind and we can get our own lives together.  Without God how else can we do it?  We meet daily stresses, pain and struggles and make difficult choices.  Only latter do we realize that all these events were God-led.  In fact, it is God that has had to grab us by the hair so that we are able to make new commitments and thereby live more wisely.

People don’t always “have it all together” all the time.  It is the wise person who can communicate their experiences of disruptions of relationships or ideas buried deep within.  Then God summons them and they respond and they become wiser.

Every time that we are forced up against the absurd, we are compelled to deal with it, to change or grow.  The problem is that the absurd is so absurd that it does not make sense. In the end we begin to focus on real problems and situations.  We begin to abandon the fantasies that we have woven concerning how things should go.

We may have psychological wounds that take a lifetime to be healed.  We may suffer from poor self-esteem:  we feel that we have a lot to lose if another person really got to know us and perhaps they will not like what they find.  We may have scars caused by old betrayals and rejections that have not healed.  We may have cultural and ethnic backgrounds which limit our capability for warmth and openness.
However, it seems that in times of sorrow, God is mysteriously most accessible.  In some profound sense, life is not ultimately absurd but rich with redemptive meaning, though we do not feel this nor can we explain it very well at the time.

It is the work of years that allow love to heal and forgive.  The work of becoming love, and of becoming what God is, may be accomplished in an entire lifetime.  In the end, it is upon completing these tasks of love that we will be judged.

MY PARTNER GOD 2

GOD ON THE SHELF

GOD IS MY PARTNER

Is our God sometimes put on a shelf to be feared and adored but safely removed from making much impact on our lives?  There are still those who think that they are loving are probably not. They often go around smiling .  They may give, but every scrap of this activity is based on their own needs.  Perhaps this God requires a more open mind and a lot of honesty.  We may still maintain our defenses where we hide from ourselves and others.  Hence we must learn whatever there is about ourselves that is shallow and in need of grace.

It seems that religion has become part of the formula for leading a socially acceptable neighborhood life.  The gospel, however, stands as a silent but powerful critic to a tamed and moderate religion:  “Go sell what you have…”

Or does our God give life and breath and is nearer to humanity than we are to ourselves?  What does the scriptures mean when it is written that “in God we live, move and have our being”?  What kind of God do you envision?

A God above — guiding our lives benevolently or punitively

A God who is a friend and a guide— walking beside us

A God who manifests itself in beauty and goodness in people, events and nature

A God-within — that tents within us, walks through life with us, and  loves and suffers with us.  Love is what God is.  We are to become what God is.

Perhaps the God-within is a different kind of human experience from God experienced as the Thou above:

” May Christ dwell in your hearts through faith and may charity be the root and foundation of your life … so that you may attain to the fullness of God.”  Ephesians 3:17 Untitled-1 Continue reading MY PARTNER GOD 2

SIGN OF THE TIMES 2

SIGN OF THE TIMES

 SIGN OF THE TIMES

Do you know how to read the signs of the times? It is simply to give particular attention to persons or events that speak to us of God in our times.  These signs indicate the presence and the direction of God and the Holy Spirit.  We may then be called to particular choices.

We live out our lives day to day wishing some sign of God’s presence.  But does God act the same way that He acted in all of history or perhaps are we reading the bible too superficially?  Perhaps most of us presume that a religious experience involves some unusual physical or psychic happening.

We wish religious experiences were a matter of lights and visions, of voices and clear directions.  But faith is faith — not sight.  As we begin to interpret our times with faith, one experiences joy.  One moves through the world with a sense of wonder.

We as a community must share visions and insights small and large.  We must  share and name the processes by which our lives are becoming identified with Jesus. God intends that we find the divine within ourselves and within our world of people and daily events.Cross Sign Sky

So why the signs?  These signs act as religious experiences and are like Love Notes from God:  they are a confirmation to you that God is beside you and things are okay. There is no such thing as coincidence: only Godcidence.

WE REAP WHAT WE SOW 2

 REAP WHAT WE SOW

 REAP WHAT WE SOW

To reap what we sow applies to our whole generation, not on any one individual.  Some people receive messages from Above.

This is a Douser of a Message!

Expect a shaking throughout the world within a short time. The first of two warnings have come already. The last warning will be shorter.

Personally I take this seriously:

  • Be ready for a quick exit from the house to the car: house coat, slippers and pants with ID in the pocket near the bed.
  • The car trunk will already be stocked with sleeping bag (blankets), coat and warm clothes.
  • Upon returning to the house without hydro, organize the stored wood, naphtha for the lanterns and one week supply of food and water.

Most of you will think this is absolutely crazy. Even if you don’t take any precaution, you will definitely want to know what is happening!

world shaking

Here is a clue:

Billy Graham’s daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and she was asked, ‘How could God let something like this happen? (regarding Hurricane Katrina).  Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response..  She said, ‘I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we’ve been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives.  And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out.

God Bad things

How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone? Yet He loves us enough to gently warn us and it is so easy to be prepared. Most of the damage will occur to people who are not prepared.

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you’re not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.
